SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter, 281-261 BC. AE (Bronze, 18 mm, 5.94 g, 1 h), Smyrna or Sardes. Facing bust of Athena, wearing triple-crested helmet. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Nike standing front, head to left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond over her left shoulder; to outer left, monogram; below wing, monogram of ΔI within wreath. SC 314c. An unusually sharp and attractive piece with lovely earthen highlights. Faint cleaning marks on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
